Exciting news – Billie Piper has had a baby! And it’s a boy!
The Doctor Who star popped at Portland Hospital in central London in the early hours of Tuesday, giving birth by Caesarean section. The baby weighed 6lb, 11oz and has been named Winston James Fox.
Husband Laurence Fox was, predictably, over the moon. “You have no idea what's going on, but it's amazing,” he told friends. He later revealed that Billie had been in labour for 26 hours before heading to hospital.
"The emergency Caesarean only took about 20 minutes," he said. "Billie is happy - of course she is, she's a mum. I am tired but not as tired as her. I am a proud father."
Billie's ex-husband Chris Evans spoke to reporters outside the hospital. "Mum is very happy and I am really pleased," he said. "There are some tears of joy up there."
He wrote on his blog: "At the time of this writing, the little fella is not even fifteen hours old. He is cute as you like and didn't cry once for the few minutes I was there which was just a few moments ago."
Not long ago Billie, most recently seen in ITV2’s Secret Diary of a Call Girl, revealed that pregnancy had turned her into a bit of a control freak. “Some women are all about this glowing, blooming thing, aren't they?” she said. “I haven't really tapped into that. I've basically replaced all my vices for a new one - control.”
She added: “I've had about 10 scans and I bought one of those baby heart monitor things. Such a bad idea - its like listening to a huge shell on the beach. But I do love it. The whole thing is just so sweet, tender and adorable.”
